Rival Radio Update

We have been quietly working behind the scenes starting to lay the groundwork to kick off Rival Radio in September.

There have been some quite interesting developments locally with 2OceansvibeRadio kicking off quite successfully and picking up a credible market.

Initially we will be kicking off with a daily podcast of between 30 and 40 minutes.

We are still hammering out the details but the shows are broken down something like this:

  • Risque’ on Rival: An adult focused entertainment show looking at issues such as dating, sexuality and relationships
  • RemSpecED on Rival: Remedial & Special education related topics for parents, teachers, therapists and other medical professionals
  • Rush! on Rival: Teen focused show for building confident young adults
  • Bootstrapped! on Rival: Entrepreneurship and small business offering
  • Dropkick! on Rival: Edgy new sports podcast

We will keep you up to date on developments over the next few weeks.

Introduction to the Rival Radio project

In 2007, Rival Industrial said that it was planning to branch out into internet radio, which it saw as the next generation of online content.

Unfortunately a combination of budgetary and skills constraints combined with the fact that we didn’t have a cooking clue how we would actually turn it into a business has meant that the idea has been shelved.

The other big concern around this project was obviously the cost and speed of bandwidth.

Fast-forward two and half years (Geez time flies) and some ideas have started to form in our head.

In short we are using this blog to try and keep our audience up to speed on some of the developments on the initiative and we are using the platform to try and engage other industry players (or those who have ideas around the space) to try and exchange ideas with us to make it into a really successful offering.
